here's an idea ... get as many artists (is not vampire "bizness" types) as possible to "out themselves" as illegal downloaders, or at very least say they disagree w/ these proposals, w/ a petition or something + maybe this'd shut these fuckers up for a while ... i'm a musician, i don't make vast sums of money or nuthin, but i do get royalties from sales ... i know a load of other musicians, of varying degrees of "profesionalism", and pretty much all of them have downloaded music they want to hear, and don't disapprove of others doing the same to their music.
I know what this portends, mind = schism betwixt industry + artists .... but that's a good thing, right?

Absolutely!

I think this whole music biz threat will fall flat on it's face, it's a jumped up version of the 'Home Taping is Killing Music' schtick of yesteryear!
Ha! Remember that ?

I think it's great that there are loads of great Blogs around where you can access lost/old/new musics etc.
It's the best 'exposure' anyone doing music can get !!

Oddly enough, I've bought many cds just through hearing them first (yes, I'm being honest here), and part of what enticed me was the fact they've taken time over packaging. Simple.

I'm sure many of us have those dreadul reissues with 'nice price' or whatever slashed across a pointlessly small reproduction of the original album sleeve.

This is where the 'industry', I think, is getting is just deserts.

They serve us music like it's burger and fries to go, and the independents out there (who I'm sure see the net as their saving grace in many ways) recognise what people want and deserve.

My most recent one is this.

A beautiful little aesthetic and the music pleases my ears too (and is the source of my current avatar musings!)

Bigwig Record companies = soulless cretins.
