I loved CREEM magazine and especially Lester Bangs' sarcastic wit.
At the age of 12 I was hypnotized by the photos and articles of the likes of Iggy Pop (who I delightfully thought was straight from hell), Blondie, The Ramones, and introduced me to David Bowie, The Who, and Zeppelin, to name a few. I'd seen Rolling Stone, which was still a newsprint paper, but it didn't speak to me. It didn't have that dangerous edge that Creem did. I probably didn't understand ALL the innuendo it offered, but I knew I had to hide the mag from my mother or else she'd go apoplectic with the centerfold sight of Alice Cooper's low-slung leather trousers revealing his happy trail.
