Have you read Barney Hoskyns' "Strange Days'? Great book on L.A'.s various music scenes through the years: 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's lots of atmosphere, particularly since you are there.

Have you been to Ameoba REcords?

Oh, yeah, Amoeba records saves my life!

I saw Six Organs Of Admittance do a "solo/acoustic" show there a while back, found a weird thing called "Post-Asiatic Lost War Dream Music" that's some kinda avant-sampler, great used record of the Missa Luba for cheap due to a glob on the grooves which I scraped off with my fingernail and now it plays fine... Totally all about Amoeba, and it's an easy drive or bus ride up Sunset from where we live

I'll remember Strange Days - could use that to get into the groove. Used the EMP computer database to get my feet when I got to Seattle 6 years ago and it helped a lot in terms of ambient history and knowing where I was, but somehow a lot of things that have influenced me throughout my life, musical and otherwise, came out of Seattle... Never expected to move there, but it made a lot of sense once I did

Hoping for a similar epiphany here. Some of the natural landscape around the city is alright, I can dig desert

They are both psych masterpieces...like fractals that won't go away long after the acid has! (FVZ=genius)
