I think I am in a minority here but I love Jane's. They were a BAND. The real thing. Yeah, some of their stuff hasn't aged great (most, though, is timeless) and they didn't always hit the mark but when they did (like Then She Did, 3 Days, Classic Girl, Slow Divers, etc.) it was magic. They were also much better live than on record. But their last one was just okay, not the same. Navarro has turned into an ego-maniacal twit of the highest order, Perry is even deeper into la-la land than ever, Eric Avery had the good sense to stay away for the last go-round and Perkins, well, he's okay, I guess. Still, who wants a reunion? I'd much rather see a Porno reunion now then a Jane's one.

I liked them.

I wouldn't mind it if either gave it another go, as I failed to see either.

Jane's Addiction, in their early days played a club I was a regular at called Burberries in Brum - and for some stupid reason I decided to give it a miss that night.

Jane's Addiction was fantastic live. Waaay better than the recorded stuff. I don't know why. Maybe it's pixie Perry's energy...

I remember 20-odd years ago I smuggled in a DAT recorder to record their shows. They were brilliant. I wish I had those tapes now.

The Astoria in 1990 was jaw dropping. Would love to hear that again. The Marquee a year or so later only slightly less so. The first album is pretty good but only second half of the second album comes close to capturing that Zep-like quality they had.

Have you read Dave Navaro's book or seen him on Rockstar Supernova? Oh dear. Total cartoon behaviour. No wonder Perry F doesn't want to play with him anymore. Then again PF hasn't exactly troubled the scorers recently. I liked Porno For Pyros but his solo record was not good.

Jane's Addiction is one of the greatest bands ever.
3 records and they defined an era...they were Alternative before Alternative was even coined...
Live, they could not be touched...
drama? more than any soap opera..but what you are left with is the music.
Nothing's Shocking changed my life in 1988.
I remember the 1st time I heard it...it was like the new Led Zep.
or better....they took the Zeppelin ethos, and template and used their own imput to turn music sideways.
I am looking forward to the box with great anticipation...live weird stuff? count me in!

GREAT news for me too. i absolutely LOVED Jane's whilst growing up, but sadly only got to see em live once on the Ritual tour in Brum. absolutely amazing. Nothing's Shocking still gives me goose bumps

couldn't be doing with that Strays comeback album though - even missed their Wolvo show on that tour on purpose

some things are better left alone

will be great to get The Gift on DVD at last
