Should Zep Tour/Record?
Dec 15, 2007, 17:43
Things are on a very high note.

Should Zep stop now? Or do they continue with a tour? And record?

Is there a legacy? Does it need protecting?

How crucial is John Paul Jones presence in keeping things right and tight?

Should tour shouldn't record...

JPJ is essential I guess otherwise this would just be the same as the Plant and Page gigs from 10 years ago.....

In answering your first and main question I feel rather torn. Whilst I would really love to see them one more time - especially now I know they can actually still cut it after all these years, I really want them to end on a high; The O2 show. - Rather than fizzle out half way through a punishing tour, where failing voice, exhaustion or whatever have hampered the schedule, with the media rubbing their noses in it.

On the other hand they do what they do. And what they do is be Led Zeppelin and they're only doing that because they enjoy it. And who are we to tell them otherwise?

I'm sure they'll only agree to go and record something if they've actually found they've created something worth recording. They're well aware that an entire back catalogue and heritage could be compromised by an ill-advised missing of expectation.

I think you're referring to In Through The Out Door there.

Led Zep should just shut up.

If they did another like that after all this time the more informed media of the early C21st would be like a bunch of rabid animals. As it is 'In Through The Outdoor' is now a largely forgotten glitch.

1st....For Your Life sounded really tight (from the bootleg I heard)

No Tour....
No record...

Not unless they feel the vibe and want to do it.
They don't owe the world a thing...sure people would be happy and pay to see them...
but Zep was about honesty and integrity...I don't see them "touring the hits" like the Who
If they felt they should try something in the studio, and the mood was right, I'd support it.
But it's never gonna happen (famous last words)

I still think that In The Evening is a fine LZ tune, but the production and horrible synths detract from it.

Coda was a much better album, despite it's bits 'n'pieces approach.
