I think the original idea, if indeed it is an idea and not just a rumour, is that it's as a tribute to Ahmet Ertegun who signed them to Atlantic?
But the possibilities of something like this turning into a corporate wankfest attended by z list celebs proclaiming to be big Zep fans ("didnt they do Smoke on the Water? I love it!") are strong.

Saw them in 75, twice, so there.

Re: Zep reformation 'definite' - why does anybody care??

They've always been a "wankfest" in my opinion, so I don't think too much will change in that regard with the reformation, except posssibly being a little more "corporate".

They also set new levels in rock history in the '70's for treating their fans like twats from what I've read.

When i read the above I got a vision of Bill Clinton talking Page into letting him play sax with 'em on stage.

It'll never happen.
Plant is doing fine w/ his SS band, and is working on a solo venture w/ Allison Krauss
These rumors pop up every month or so just to give newbie Zep fans a big hard-on.

It'll never happen.

Yes, true, but like a certain proportion of Zep fans, despite the obvious and over-bearing pompus wankery, it's hard not to fall in love with the first five (alright, six) albums. I'd love to hate them, really I would, but I can't bring myself to. When Page was at his most pissed-up-twin-neck-SG-occult-silk-flare-wearing-stupidity it's almost rock perfection at its most ridiculous. Seeing the all-girl cover band Lez Zeppelin last month made me a bit giddy with glee.

If it does happen will it be Phil Collins on drums for a re-enactment of the 'classic' Live Aid performance? :-)

i'd rather be tied down with a constant tape loop of the smiths for company than listen to Sabbath without Ozzy

Sabbath without Ozzy should be called Bleak Sabbath.
