I agree about the issue of the cover artist safety, and I agree that the content and editorial is all getting rather hackneyed, I have been told that first hand experience of content that is offered, that is ignored..when novel research and info not in the public domain is offered.
I really think that magazines like this who are published by publically quoted media companies Emap I think in this case, will tend to play safe in my opinion worrying about Advertising. and whether W.H.Smiths will distribute it, have you seen their ratecard?
I think Phil Alexander edits the magazine, not sure if he has the correct freaky credentials to put Sun Ra on the cover
I miss Sounds and OZ magazine, the former really tried hard to make a freaky difference in the mainstream, I remember Mr Cope being photographed ion Sounds effecting a pained countenence whilst standing up to his waist in a village pond somewhere..Mark Ellen standing in for John Peel on Radio 1 commented on this rather worried by it all..
