Wasn't Allan Holdsworth in the band at some point?

Mike

yep -- for one year, while Mike Ratledge was still in it. he appears on Bundles (harvest 1975), and a recent archival release called the Floating World, which is a live set for Radio Bremen taped in early 75

For me there's a bit of a difference between "classic albums" i can appreciate as being technically good works but not to my interest or taste....i might put most of the beatles albums into this category and possibly just about any good soul or funk record; and "classic albums" that are not to my interest or taste AND i can't understand what anyone else sees in them to make them worthy of acclaim...off top of my head My Bloody Valentine fall into this category.
I suppose also one has to take the context of the album into account - a record considered classic because it was groundbreaking in one way or another at the time may well strike a modern listener as unremarkable when heard for the first time, having been brought up on records which drew from its influence.

All prog rock.

Anything by the Rolling Stones, except maybe Paint it Black.

Anything by the Happy Mondays or the Charlatans.

Spiritualized.
