lou is totally up his own arse always, but this is his least fulla-shit rec ... no crap lyrical conceits or anything //// i used to think all that "beethoven stacked up w/ mozart" stuff he dropped at the time was a dumb wind up, but having spent 20 yrs w/ MMM i can see how he wd say that ... there's a lot of tunes in there that the harmonics just build themselves ... you've gotta move yr ears along a bit from the beach boys, sure, but c'mon, we're all adults, eh?
BTW, i also have a big soft spot for Coney Island Baby, his softrock doowop rec that he released right after MMM ... difference is that i own MMM (uh, 3 times ... gotta ditch my crap 90s vinyl reissue) + need to hear it relatively regularly, but i gave my copy of Coney Island to a charity shop earlier this year
