Never owned any Dick Dale, but do own a lot of Man or... Astroman? They do the old garagy surfy guitary stuff, also got a good album by a band called Huevos Rancheros which i haven't heard for years, might dig that out later. Plus had the priviledge of seeing Link Wray a few years back. Never heard the Batman theme sound so good! |

One of the best bands I've ever seen live! Honest!! They played at Bristol Bierkeller a few years back and the highlight for me was the bass player who had a helmet was made out of a hollowed out computer monitor set fire to it and ran around the bierkeller with a flaming monitor on his head. Fan-bloody-tastic. Wish I had it on video!! |

I remember them being fun at the time! Just found a 'down tempo' type track (scroll down to shadowy track and click on numbers at right of title) http://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/16532 Their Site...... http://shadowy.brainiac.com/smen-albums.htm |

I used to have an old peel show on tape which featured them, that I used to play in the car a lot. It was ages ago, now - but I it was a great twangy instumental.

That was probably Coco the Electronic Monkey Wizard! Saw them a few times too, the best being at the Princess Charlotte in Leicester - twangtastic! Also saw Heuvos Rancheros there - twangtastic too! Got one Dick Dale album and it's superb. Twang..well, you get the idea.. x |
