no. like at University, musicians are students who are there to perform good work. At University, turning in poor work is met with a quick and decisive rebuke. If it's a literature course, turning in an analysis of Tess of the D'Arbavilles in which your central premise holds that Hardy was in essence a kooky fun loving type whose work was of the why can't we all just get along variety is not valid.

Similarly, Petra Haden's reinterpretation of the Who's work is ill-conceived, poorly executed, and simiply poor quality work. She gets an F.

Though I think it's noble to champion freedom of expression, I think we need controls in this society to stop the proliferation of poor work. It adds nothing to the culture. Whether some fool enjoys it is often, not always, but often, entirely bedside the point.
