The Opposite of Reissues
Apr 25, 2005, 18:40
Hi fellow heads,

here's a conversation starter --

what albums ought rightfully be taken out of circulation forever? erased from the planet if you will. Albums with no redeeming qualities about them at all. Albums that are an afront to the art of making albums. Dumb song titles. Bad lyrics. Pointless, tuneless noise. Artists named "Josh" something-or-other. Accapella renditions of the Who. Kooky female jazz singers. Mariachi bands. David Sylvian.

you get the idea.

I haven't any for the list TP

I think that whatever is released and put on sale, even if it's something that makes ME cringe or makes ME wince, then I just think it's meant for someone else!!

well I generally agree with that -- e.g. I wouldn't propose deleting King of America by EC, even though I loathe it.

No, I'm talking about records that have all the socially redeeming value of Adolf Hitler. it is a fine line.

yeah, but some things might be more or less deserving of mega-corp promo budgets, in a cultural sense, and other things might be left to the artist to promote - like, Bruce Willis "The Return Of Bruno," sure he has every right to record and release it and we every right to pay no attention, but what if it gets put in every billboard and every newspaper and magazine and played on every radio... While Zappa has to atart his own company to get his music heard, and he may not be any more or less listenable but he isn't trying to be an actor, now is he?

love their first three but The Seeds' Spoonful of Seedy Blues album is an abomination...in my opinion
