How can anyone match the sheer emotional wave that is "The Carnival Is Over" ?? Seriously, I just can't get over the fact that a combination of singing human voices presented in a song like that can make me shiver inside. btw- Kim Fowley co-wrote 'Emerald City'

Despite their greed fuelled political errors, their recording of songs for Man Utd and their current total crapness, I still have a soft spot for prime period Status Quo - 70-77. The last night at this years' Guilfest could be an epiphanistic event or I may never surface again.

And the First Picture Of You - Lotus Eaters. And Lene Lovich. And Kirsty MacColl. (Hmm...) And Boo Hewerdine. And Diamond Head. And Jim Tones.

I'd agree with Lawrence, it is worth getting. The stuff on there from their second album isn't quite as good (because chief songwriter Michael Brown left after the first), but there at least a dozen or so songs on there that are in the same league as those two. Don't know if you've heard the Zombies "Oddysey & Oracle", but it sounds very much like a Brit version of the Left Banke at times.

"I want a Jim Tones (oh ay oh), to keep my head expanding I want a Jim Tones (oh ay oh), nothing too demanding Then when everything is in roses everything is static Yeh my Jim Tones (oh ay oh), you'll find us in the attic. "
