Saw 'em tonight in Liverpool - boy, they were good! Their album is ok, but it doesn't do them justice at all - live they are much more raw and alive - fantastic! Ok, i'll shut up now! : )

Have quite liked the 2 singles I've heard - the beefheartesque one and the one that's out now. Word has it that the saxophone player is a bit tasty - can you confirm this?

She's not bad actually. I went again tonight - 2 nighter! Supporting them tonight, was a group called Misty's Big Adventure - who were utterly wonderful. Probably a little too restrained on disc, but wonderful live. They were a cross between Gong and Bonzo Dog Band, with a singer who sounded very reminiscent of Copey. Quite excellent. Anyone heard of this lot?

Have to agree- saw Zutons in the summer at festival in Ireland. They were great live and ended with a long, semi-improvised track with the sax complimented with a very delayed Melodica... sort of echoes of Madness's "Night Boat to Cairo" in a way. I reckon they're by far the best of any of the "new"/"retro" sounding bands - what they're doing is not just wholesale ripping people off but putting there own unique take into the music. Fair play to 'em!
(Compare & contrast: the Futureheads -even when covering Kate Bush they still want to sound like XTC circa 1978. If this year the singer gets stage fright and they quit touring, they may have achieved their ultimate goal!!)

Cool!
Heard the album today... better than i was expecting to be honest! You can certainly hear the potential for how they would sound live!
Will go see them if ever they're around here :)
