I know you're just trying to get me to listen to PH again, but I'm not falling for your dirty tricks, JT ; )

Listening to Diamond Dogs after having heard VDGG I thought Bowie'd borrowed from yet another place. something about the cadence of the lyrics if not direct stylistic influence.

Aw Jim, you're joking, man...there's NO comparison. Hammill isa TRUE original. McKenzie just sounded SO contrived. And tuneless - summat no-one could ever accuse ol'Pete of.

Naw, Steve. I just have this allergy to so-called "singers" who use a microphone to do anything other than sing melodically, for the sake of what they feel is originality. I sometimes put Ian McCullough into the same category, to be honest. With both the Associates and the Bunnymen I can lay claim to loving some of their music to distraction, but the vocals in both cases stop them from being truly up there with the best. Hence my contribution to this thread.

But hey, as we always conclude...whatever floats your boat, my friends!

i really like that one too. I love his randomness, no one else makes tunes like they do. I also like "skipping" and i dont mean the "not last night but the night before 24 robbers came a knocking at my door, as i ran out they ran in, and i hit them on the head with a rolling pin" kind. Oh i'm off to put sulk on now, thanks for reminding me.

Some of the post-humous stuff is really good, too, if you haven't heard it.
