heheh that's two of my favourite male vocalists taken out in one go PV
Roger Chapman's voice is an acquired taste I guess, but he must rank as one of the most psychedelic vocalists (if there is such a thing lol ) of all time, trippy without any gizmos. Gotta love Robin Williamson too
neither of them have what I'd call pretty voices but hell they both had/have a special talent, can also see why they'd fuck others off, but me I love em.

Hmmm...there's a bunch of them. Pretty much any of the metal-rap 'let's scream thru a bunch of compression' vocals turn me the hell off in seconds. The whole post-grunge 'let's sound like some drunk wino even though we're rockin' 20-somethings' trend from the mid-90s, also, pretty much marred a whole body of music. Prime example there was Crash Test Dummies...they did a really cool power-pop thing with "I Am Superman", but then the next thing they came out with was the execrable "Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm" with the VERY annoying and fakey growly-gutter-drunk slop-voice. Bleah.

Nah. I could listen to his wit and wisdom all day.

(I know that sounds like I'm taking the piss, but I'm not)

I recently heard an album by a band called Hinterland, entitled Under the Waterline. Some nice moments, but some of the vocals are WAAYYYY too over-blown.

Always wished I could find a heavy band with a si9nger in the late 80s. Was reminded of this today by reading a review of Neurosis' new cd. Pretty good stuff they used to do nice heavy droney but all vocals were shouty.
Most of the Death/Doom stuff I heard would've been better if bands had singers instead of growlers too. But it goers against the trend so can't be dione apparently.

Michael Gerrard's seems too forced too, haven't heard Guy Kyser's in a while but I think that's more weird than bad.
Couldn't stand the geezer from Smashing Pumpkins vocals on the otherwise ok Gish, that was several years back, before they made it. Possibly wouldn't like it at all now.

I've only just got to accepting the geezer from Caravan/Hatfield and The North's reedy vocal. Didn't like it much on Land of gRey and Pionk.
Got it in my ear now from H&TN and it's ok.
