I suppose that's the beauty of all music....one person's meat etc - I think Roger Chapman's voice is marvellous! ;-)

That guy in Silver Apples reminds me too much of that wanker who sings in Eyeless In Gaza!

Yeah, Morrisey -- as good as his songs are -- is hard to take for long periods.

Of course Tom Verlaine is another example of someone who makes cool music but can't sing. Alot of people hate Bob Dylan's singin no matter how good his singing is (although I actually like Dylan's singing in spite of what others think!)

Hahahah!
That would have been great!
Huge great papier-mache apocalyptic horses descending as the be-kaftaned one warbles...
"...the second horse is red..." etc.
Heheheh!

Incidentally, I have a problem with David Tibet's voice too, which pisses me off. He's better in his collaborations with Steve Stapleton, coz Stapleton (or Colin Potter) adds just the right amount of processing and effects to his voice to make it easier on the ears.

"no matter how good his songs are"

Sometimes I'm not sure if my head is screwed on right... Of course I'm hungover from the Emil Beauleau/Ron Lessard show last night.

His whole melodramatic thing with his vocals are pretty grating, to be honest.

Ahhh Matyn Bates, I didn't care too much for the 'Murder Ballads' thing he did with Mick Harris but I liked most of the stuff he did with Eyeless In Gaza- especially the track "You Frighten" on the 'Perpectives & Distortion' Cherry Red Comp. - sounded a bit like Hammill...

Alot of Eyeless In Gaza was good, but I just hated Bates singing. And I didn't like his solo stuff when it came out -- sounded like he was trying for LA Session Mafia country-rock...
