was flicking through the review section of Q (i know) and Faust were mentioned with someone else a bit more contemporary in collaboration - anyone know anything about this? It wasn't a reissue I don't think.

recordings with Tony Conrad maybe? there's a cd called something like Outside The Dream Syndicate that's on Table of the Elements...these are vintage early 70's recordings, droney, slow & not as good as any of Faust's 70's releases or later releases of 70's recordings such as BBC sessions, Munic/Elsewhere, 71 min. of Faust etc. (all in the cd box set) They also guested, some members of Faust, on Slapp Happy's Casablanca Moon, Acnalbasac Noom & Sort Of lps -all in the early 70's and all great, but not as hot as Faust itself... more recently Rien was 'produced' by Jim O'Rourke from live recordings and there may be some other recent collabs. - all less interesting (at least to me) than the vintage faust era w/ rudolf sosna et al. as recorded by kurt graupner & uwe nettlebeck

http://www.prefixmag.com/reviews.php?page=F&a=1&rt=cd&rf=FaustVsDalek%20DerbeRespectAlder%202004 Well this guy calls it remarkable. I've been wondering what that La Nev Dusseldorf thing on Capt.Trip is about, fairly recent material.

La! Neu? are a Klaus Dinger project that's been running about 8 years now. Since the ol' egomaniac always calls himself the 'inventor of Neu! and La Dusseldorf', (see http://www.gawl.de/dingerland/Talks/pop_int.htmlic ) and piss off Michael Rother even more in the process, of course (http://www.furious.com/perfect/michaelrother.html). For Dinger's latest project, Viva 2004, he's resorted back to the La Dusseldorf name for a remake of the 1978 La D. album 'Viva' - I mean, come on, I've heard of writer's block, but that's just absolutely ridiculous. The new version is apparently out in September. Any La! Neu? CDs should be approached with caution, given Dinger's absolutely to-a-fault belief in musical democracy between himself and the other members, which of course is an odd decision anyway for such a legendary control freak and comes out on record as just a pure lack of quality control. However, there's a few gems among their handful of albums. I've not yet heard the live album 'Cha Cha 2000 Live In Tokyo' but there's an Unsung record review of it you can check out. The La! Neu? album that I do have is called Zeeland, which splits between meandering electronica that occasionally has its moments, and three 3rd-album Velvets-meets-Galaxie 500 guitar pieces that sparkle in a nice understated way; To Get You Real in particular turns a ten-word minimalist mantra into a gorgeous ballad of lovesick longing. Investigate by all means, but don't expect genius moments on the level of Dinger's golden period of '75-'78.

Couldn't find any cha cha 2000 review. Read your review instead. Good stuff. And played Radioactivity. And TransEurope Express. Z
