SPIN's kiss of death for 2004

In fact the latest issue of SPIN is all about "the next big things."

On the cover, representatives of 4 NEXT BIG BANDS:

Interpol
The Distillers
Thursday
The Darkness!!

According to the SPIN sucks hype theory, therefore all of these bands should be all but forgotten in 2-5 years times.

Bad news for Darkness fans then!

BTW - I am torn between who looks more ridiculous on the cover: that Darkness dude posing all "arena metal" or the "jaded" tatooed & pierced skank from the Distillers. Whom I've never heard but I *know* they suck.

The Interpol guy has longish nerd hair and is wearing a cheap suit (70's shlock chic.) The guy from Thursday is dressed all in black with shiny zippers and looks like a reject from a boy band (I am guessing he's from an "Emo" band.)

So retro-phony & calculated with their images! I'm bored of these Next Big Things before I even know what half of them sound like!
