Philip Pritchard (Potty Phil) and Toby Olditch are on remand at HMP Gloucester for attempting to disarm B-52 Bombers at the USAF base at Fairford, near Swindon. The activists, Phillip Pritchard and Toby Olditch, were on their way to hammer on the bomb bay doors to prevent them from opening and dropping bombs, hammer on the jet engines and put loose nuts and bolts into the engines to prevent the bomber from taking off. They carried warning signs to post onto the bomber to warn the aircraft should not be operated. Besides notices, paint, and seeds, a banner saying "Hope and Resistance" was carried. The two activists are charged with conspiracy to cause criminal damage, going equipped to cause criminal damage, and aggravated trespass. They will appear in court again probably next Tuesday at Cheltenham Magistrates Court, and will apply for bail. So, if you’re in the UK, get something in the post first class so it should arrive Monday. Put the name of the activist followed by; HMP Gloucester Barracks Square Gloucester GL1 2JN As always with writing to prisoners, put a return address on the back of the envelope. ================= Last week THIRTY of the spully vehicles for the B52s at Fairford were disabled in one night! http://www.tridentploughshares.org/prel/prel03/r030314a.html

---- Update from Philip Pritchard and Toby Olditch Tuesday 25th March 2003 A very brief preliminary hearing was held at Gloucester Crown Court yesterday. A group of 20 or friends, family and supporters were outside court with banners etc. An application for bail was mot made. The plea and directions hearing date was set for May 30th. At this hearing the trial date will be set. We think the trial will be in September. We will let you know any news re: bail as and when we know. There was some good coverage on BBC TV news and Central news today. And we are expecting a letter from Phil in the Daily Telegraph today and a piece in New Statesman on Friday. Here's the info re: letter writing and arranging prison visits. with lots of love Zoe PS. Excellent action yesterday by group of 14 peace activists. They stopped a convoy of 6 freight vehicles carrying B52 bombs (MK-80's, so called dumb bombs i.e. none guided), they were on their way to RAF Fairford. The protection offered by the 7 police vans, numerous outriders and police cars proved no match for the group of 14 who blocked the convoy back and front with a clapped out old banger and a lock-on, the convoy was held up for 15 minutes. No arrests and a clear non arrest policy in place. Correspondence For correspondence ensure that you include the prisoner number on the envelope, Put a return address on the envelope, and on the letter if you want them to write back to you - they haven't got address books Toby Olditch - JT 5132 Phillip Pritchard - JT 5131 HMP Gloucester, Barrack Square, Gloucester, GL1 2JN They especially like pictures and postcards of gorgeous outside places You can send a message to them which we will print out and send to [email protected] Put phil, toby or both in subject line -----
