I got the belt for smiling too, and I'm not even Catholic. It did me the world of good though, I haven't smiled since.
My dad was a teacher, and he got out his strap last week to show my nephew - so count your blessings. Your teacher was never too sadistic in case the parents complained - when its your dad you pray for the day Childline gets invented.
