And also, is it possible to disagree without being disagreeable?
You wouldn't have implied Mrs Merton was something offensive, would you?

a rising feeling (ooh-err) of unease about the increasing prevalence of corporate strip clubs, nationally advertised and situated in areas not normally associated with such establishments

I think. That, and the exploitation of women being marketed as glamorous emancipation, which is a bit sickening, to be honest with you.

but what to do? It's a discussion board, so why not discuss something, especiallly if you're really not that sure about it - it gives you a chance to find out what is going elsewhere, and what other people think about it ...

censorship

censorship is a tricky concept, but I think it is a 'front end' deal to do with publication rather than production.

I think that an anti-censorship position does not equate with justifying any act which it is possible to record and publish.

surely it fullfulls the group brief of righteousness and direct action to be discussing the rights & wrongs of demonstrating outside a club?

that too - something for everyone. Don't know if you saw it, but MrsG went down to the first protest planning meeting about the Slough Honeypot, and reckoned it was full of religious fanatics, who didn't care in the slightest about the welfare of the women ...

I dunno really, but I know I don't like it, but wouldn't protest outside or do this:

forgot to say - they did http://www.theyhavetopayforit.com (now dead) - in which they posted the pictures of people going in - it backfired on them quite badly. All the people I know in Newcastle didn't have a good word to say about the protestors

but then all the Geordies I know are wild beer swilling, tab-smerking, footy-mad types, even the avant-garde artists ...

I'm intrigued to know how it backfired.

In a death-threaty kind of way or in a see-you-in-courty kind of way?

I had just got back from the pub and at the time it seemed as if it was implied that my arguement condoned such things as animal, kiddie porn etc.

Now the types of porn you mentioned are all highly illegal, not just in terms of publication, but mainly by the fact that there has been serious laws broken in the production of such pornography. So they outside the realms of censoring something which is legal, as consenting adult sex is legal.

Animal, Kiddie, unconsenting porn is rightfully illegal as it involves serious violation of people and of the law.

Page 3 involves a woman getting her tits out and being photographed - Nothing illegal in that. It's just the crappy tabloids which print them being the problem as are their readers.

Having said that I am not into Porn at all and I do know people who are into porn who would be quite happy to come out with moralistic arguements (and say how bad things are) as they see themselves as being family men.

see you in court ... basically, you're not actually doing anything wrong by going to a licensed strip club, so it's a bit of invasion of privacy (which is ironic, given the nature of the entertainment, but there you go) to be photographed and put on the web ....

Who the fuck do you think you are?
Dec 13, 2002, 21:11
What’s wrong with a bird getting paid to gets her tits out? Do you pay per size? Would one pay more to see a pair of DD puppies than for some C cup cuties? If that IS the case there are obviously issues involved with quantity verses quality? Rather like pay per view footy. Man U Vs Arsenal would set you back more than QPR Vs Wolves or whatever. I mean where do you draw the line on value for money these days. It's criminal making an honest punter pay though the nose for some old slapper. What’s the local talent like Necropolist? Blonde hair & big tits complete with a nice tight butt or saggy slappers with cellulite and too much makeup? Have you been inside any of these eye candy emporiums yourself? I must admit I didn't read this whole thread it was far too dull. If the talents not quite on the mark maybe a few more establishments should open up in your area? Bit of good old-fashioned competition should soon raise the standards up to an acceptable level of enjoyment. And talking of enjoyment… what’s the going rate for add-ons as the saying goes? What should one expect to pay for a grope of a girlies mams or a caress of a leg? More than twenty quid, or less? Further more, why is it wrong to pay someone for oral pleasure or shag anyway? It’s a safe bet you people have loads of opinions of these as well as many other topics. I’m getting really negative vibes from this thread about the sex industry. What you are doing is trying to do is put people out of their jobs. It’s selfish, and displays a level of arrogance that I can scarcely believe. Who the fuck do you think you are? Imagine for just a minute that you are the owner of a club crème, you have your heart set on a nice Porsche fanny magnet but day after day there’s a picket of right-on, self-righteous, hessian and tie dye wearing mother fuckers outside your joint. Before long you have to make do with looking around Mercedes dealerships. NOW THAT AINT RIGHT.
