I hope so too. The seemingly inexorable rightwards lurch at least seems to have been halted. I hope the pendulum may start to swing back now.

Tory minister on #r4today says they will have a vote on reducing time limits on abortion in exchange for DUP support.

If the Tories are that desperate to hang on to power that they'll get into bed with the DUP there's every chance of a big popular backlash from the policies that'll ensue, and a Labour win next time.. and the youth votell go nowhere else. Even in two years the demographic could swing even further JC s way dramatically: all the aware 16-17 year olds chomping at the bit..I think the country is on a cusp due to the change in the age demographic, and the beneficiary will n o t be the Tories.

Totally agree. It was heartwarming to see the young engaging with it and finding the motivation to go out and vote. In that sense the future does look bright.
I still cannot believe that a deal has been done with the DUP. It's not for our benefit, it's not to our advantage as a society, it's simply so she can grab the prize. Disgusting.

Fucking hell. Is this the kind of shit we're going to have to tolerate now?
The system needs to change, nobody voted for this.

Nobody with even a shred of integrity or belief in the idea that they must represent the will of the people would have taken the action May has decided upon.
I can't find the words.

It's so gross, maybe it's not true. But if it is.....

It's deplorable. I thought it was tawdry yesterday, this kind of deal makes look much worse than that. How desperate to hold on are they?

Nice to see you back by the way.

It was Owen Paterson, ex NI Secretary so probably not a random remark:
"You might get a debate I suppose on further reduction of abortion times as medical science advances."
Sounds like a deliberate testing of the water.

Not sure it's going to happen. Tory membership seems to be very unhappy.
