is everyone aware that the chemical element Sulphur has been officially renamed Sulfur? Apparently American "lazy" spelling has been adopted by the UK and international chemists. Not all are happy about this. But what can you do?

They call aluminium 'aluminum'. That's easier to say, I admit = one less syllable. Though it smacks of laziness too like your sulfur example. I suggest we all let them get on with it. We can carry on with our sulphur and aluminium as usual and pretend we agree. I will get a thrill of subversiveness in crossing any new spellings out on the pots at work and rewriting them.

Is this some sort of 'issue' RT News[russian tv] has told you to be upset about again?

It's all right. I don't think he's genuinely upset. You'll be better off baiting other threads.

I can think of a great use for you as bait.

Unfortunately not. School textbooks and exam papers have been changed. American "lazy" spelling is what all have to adopt now. Of course Industry and Academics are not happy.

Britain and the rest of the literate world are being forced to adopt the "lazy" spelling of the USA in Chemistry. It is not USA baiting. It is across ALL school textbooks and examination papers. A thousand years of scientific endeavour, latin roots and deep understanding. Thrown away for "lazy" spelling. This is no omnishambles Dhajjiboy bukake festival or three-way, squeaky airtight Dhajjieboy pandemonium here. This is about the elements. Think of the children...
