I thought this bit was particularly interesting

i.e. that some of the issue has to come back to the way the west still looks at other parts of the world, we believe we're justified to steam in and start interfering where we're not wanted, and we pretend it's all for the benefit of the people that live there, when that's not quite true

I do need to do some proper reading about what the beliefs of 'regular' Muslim are and where the extreme groups' beliefs are coming from, because I know zero quite frankly. it would be a good start.
