Well he wasn't a Muslim, he wasn't religious but just because he looks like one people will jump on the bandwagon. You're totally right about if he was white he'd be classed as mentally ill, which in turn brings about another wave of stigma.

If it was for religious purposes you'd think that he'd leave a message glorifying whichever god he believes he was doing this for, after all all the others do.

Personally I'm not convinced that there's any religious reasoning behind these attacks, purely ideological. If they're doing these thing for Dae'sh then you'd be hard pushed to call them Islamic, as they don't adhere to the five pillars in any way and don't even own a Qur'an! Same as Boko Haram, they're about as Islamic as I am the pope! But (for me) it is a race thing, it really does depend on the colour of your skin.
