Sadly trying to increase divides between working classes and middle classes simply plays into the hands of the elite who want to keep everyone in their place and increase the gap between the richest in society and the poor.
Orwell makes the point brilliantly inThe Road To Wigan Pier that the only way to get towards a more socially just and fair society is for all working people, white and blue collar alike, to be on the same side. Most of the middle class people that this blog is so derisive of are being screwed by the lie of austerity as much as the working class is. Wages are kept down by employers to maximise profits. Class War divisiveness will not help that. And let's be clear, the Tories keep getting into power on the back of working class votes. It was the working classes that kept returning Thatcher to office. Austerity is Tory bullshit, ideologically driven by a self-serving class of the very richest. Portraying the middle class as the enemy will only serve to perpetuate that.

There has been a lot of sneering going on from all sorts of sources - not just at the poor who 'had nothing to lose' in the Brexit campaign but also at older people in general (by which I mean over 55) who seem to be held directly responsible. Fascism wears many faces and tragically it is often not recognised for what it is.
