You're coming at independence from a far different place than the Northern Irish Catholics who suffered terrible human rights abuses: Gerrymandering, Protestant "business votes" allowing certain people to vote more than once, discrimination in housing and employment policy, the very nasty loyalist Royal Ulster Constabulary. Different times, differently treated and a different fight. It wouldn't surprise me if DAESH were to try to hit Glasgow, Cardiff or Edinburgh. Being targeted for what can be seen as London Policy, it would cause irreparable constitutional crises.
