This has always been the case though with regard to State Schools, it just hasn't been underlined with law. It doesn't stop free schools etc from teaching creationism as science (if I read it correctly), it just means they'll lose funding and even recognition as schools if they do. Every other country in Europe pretty much has this law/rule relating to education and religion. The US could do with it more than we tbh ;)

Thing that bothers me about this underlining of what is tacitly the norm anyhow is that it's just basically a kneejerk twitch against the Islamic plot to takeover schools in Birmingham, the 'facts' of which are pretty iffy.
