Possibly the biggest protest I have ever seen in this city.

I guess the people have spoken.

It was my mums first real demonstration, though she'd been to the George Square peace rally recently and shes been on pickets duty before.
I remember CND rallies that seemed that big from my youth, but even Mars bars seemed bigger when you remember them than when you see them.
I would not.
I thought they were being a bit optimistic asking for 10000, but I was being pessimistic.

Dunno about there being 15,000 mind. I think the next biggest one woulda been the 'big' poll tax one. Y'know the civilised one up here while all them anarchist thugs were ripping up our nations capitol? ;o)

Spookrijder, there's no need to apoloise for being Belgian. We like all sorts around here ;oD

Nope. Jacques Brel and some of the most insane techno of the early nineties and that's it as far as my knowledge of Belgian music goes.

PlastiC Bertrand, anthony, anyway, and you don't know Arno? That's a shame, the singer from TC Matic, a huge Captain Beefheart's fan, a Tom Waits', and a walking legend here, a bit like Julian but too drunk to cope.
Belgian bands? try Rudy Trouvé, solo, or with Kiss My Jazz, Gore Slut, Dead Man Ray (the last record is recorded by Steve Albini) or Think of One, some kind of a fanfare band who's playing with Marrakesh Emballage Ensemble or Köhn, electronic and experimental shit or Wim Mertens, contemporary music for everyone's ears (a bit like Nyman, but more genuine) or Fred Van Hove, a free music pianist, one of the best in the world today.
And Jacques Brel... ben oui.

but nobodys listening.

I would urge any new protestors to do more than march on the 31st, if not before.

And while I'm in a bda mood, did you notice how the BBC cut the numbers by 10000 to 5000 ?

I'm stopping listening to any news media that I know lies to me for political reasons, which means HH will soon be my only source of news.
