It's a reminder that when civil liberties are taken away, they don't come back again. And also that the major parties are all the same. Labour when this film was made, now the tories, and if you ever had any hope for the libdems to do anything different well that's been long dashed.
briefly refreshing to see the poll tax riots, to think that wound people up enough that it was scrapped. but you do wonder if that sort of thing could happen again. the film is so full of explanation about using "anti terrorist" legislation to stop ordinary people protesting against anything anywhere that you start wondering if we're like frogs being popped in cold water and then slowly boiled, exactly how far we've been boiled already.
Jarvis Cocker's song at the end explains who's still running the world. Better clap your hands over your children's ears.
