The alarming recent development of U.K. citizens being extradited for 'crimes' committed outside of U.S territory should not go unchallenged. Suddenly the U.S. seems to be able to apply for, and receive permission to remove people who have never set foot in their country. The Barclays duo, McKinnon, and now alleged arms dealer Taplin, have all fallen foul of this absurd scenario. Who gave Uncle Sam permission to lift people at will? Since when were they the ultimate arbiter of what can and cannot be done? Have the people of Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and numerous other countries around the world reciprocal rights to extradite U.S. citizens for atrocities committed in their countries? No, they have not.
The new world policeman is getting seriously out of control. His big stick now extends everywhere. Watch what you say or what you do. Big brother is watching, and lifting.
