Have you been too calm recently? Need to raise your blood pressure? Perhaps you have a major demolition project on the go and want something to help you really put your back in to it. Then look no further!
The Future of Conservatism: Values Revisited edited by David Davies (amongst others) will help with all the above. (£6.99 Amazon).
I am not by nature a political person, beyond what I percieve my own self interest to be (sorry), but this has transformed me into Robespierre (in fact come back Desmoulins and Danton, your time has come again).
What is the future of Conservatism? A minimal state of course. Liberty, not equality, “ancient liberties” over the creation of new rights, etc.
But here is the clincher on the new immorality (in my opinion of course). No limits on how high a person might rise or how low they might fall. Think about that. They (or at least some of them) are beneath contempt.
Representing a desire to repeal the better bits of the twentieth century. I fail to comprehend why anyone would believe in the ideas contained in this book.
I have no knowledge of the internal politics of the Conservative Party and if this book represents the ideas of a minority faction but it is literally hateful.
