Ban Live Export of cattle from Australia to Indonesia

Hi - I'm a huge long term admirer of JC so not trolling here. Just wanted to put it out there that there is a great travesty going on in that the Australian government continues to send live export of cattle to absolute abhorrent cruelty in Indonesian abattoirs. Footage was filmed on ABC Four Corners program 2 weeks ago. The whole country was in uproar by this dispicable treatment of animals. The Australian government is doing backflips to ensure the billion dollar industry isn't destroyed so therefore making poxy measures (like tagging of animals) to appease the protests. Not sure if this has got out in the Uk but this is a huge issue here. Thousands have rallied last weekend and to not much success. Its all on this website: www.banliveexport.com. Yup, beware, there are some pretty harrowing going's on here. Absolute cruelty. Well highlighted as I, for one, hadn't heard of this cruel trade before.

I've already signed the Internet petition and sent a polite-through-gritted-teeth e-mail to the Australian Minister of Agriculture. Wish I could do more, but being based in the UK ties my hands somewhat. Here's a link to the petition anyway.
Please sign whatever your views on the efficacy of internet petitions, as they need all the signatures they can get

You're a legend Popel. THANKS SO MUCH Every signature helps. Yes its a true horror story. The Australian public had no idea these things went on. More footage is due to be distributed and no doubt will cause more uproar which is good because will rally more to the cause and will get this barbaric practice stopped. So many people will be very thankful for your comments. regards M

Thanks Drew, its been a well kept secret for decades so can you imagine that this has gone on day in day out for these poor creatures. Its sickening to the core and many people are very traumatised by what they saw. On the other hand they have been rallying to action like never before. Thanks for your support. THANKS ALL OF YOU - YOU'VE MADE MY DAY. At the moment still awaiting the result of Bills being put forward to Parliament to halt all ships going to Indonesia. If not successful there'll be another rally across Australia and heavier campaigning. Thanks again.

Your welcome, keep us posted. (I did read the BBC report, disgusting trade. Strange that it should come to light the same day as the UK parliament debated the transport of circus animals.)
