With autumn just around the corner and a nice damp summer behind us, I am anticipating a bountiful harvest of mutha natures finest and free-est hallucinogens. My request is, has anyone got any imaginative uses for the little buggers, I've been through teas and soups and just bungin' them on stuff. An old aquaintence of mine has tried to make wine with them to no avail he got wine but no trip (same thing happened with the dope wine using the stalks and dodgy leaves), he told me that a fella down in the new forest had mastered the trick of getting through the wine making process with properties intact. Any ideas ?? fitz the beserker

Dry them, put them in an electric coffee grinder, use the powder on some peanut butter on toast, put the butter on the toast, then sprinkle a good teaspoon of the little stars on the p/butter, and spread in. Yum, yum, wooooaahhhh there! Note. Store the grinds in an old camera film tub, very handy for use in a variety of situations. Bee Blessed, Lord Fungus of Morfe.

You could also try dryin' 'em and smoking 'em with a little top notch grass. Tastes like a dog's ring (metaphorically speaking of course) but takes you to strange places. Similar disclaimer to Morfe: I am being entirely hypothetical and am only interested in furthering research into such things.....

Continuing from Buzzard of Morfe's suggestion, if you're in a situation where you need to eat them as they are, try and get a packet of dry roasted peanuts and eat them mixed in. No taste or gagging sensation at all. Er, allegedly...

bless yer lives mateys for the suggestions so far,I'm still angling for the vineculture section to make themselves heard. Unfortunately morfe I dont own a coffee grinder, my local perveyor of wholefoods attends to that for me and I'd be wary of spiking our town with a tainted bean buster.I recall a chap with the same name as myself (!) once took part in the (alleged) mass spiking of a ships crew by dropping some of the most potent shetland fungi in the tea urn (many years ago when he was young and daft). least said the better on that one. As for the dogs bum method i have experienced that but with agaric, an experience I wouldn't recommend. Peanuts sound good I've not tried that, I tend to steer away from the fresh produce. I may have to invest in a mortar and pestle. love fitz the thule beserker

Er oh yeh I made all that stuff up you know. I'm only curious cos of something I read and I wouldn't really behave in such an illegal or irresposible manner. the shame of it love fitz the baron von munchhausen of headdom.

The dope wine will have failed because dope isn't water-soluble. It's oil-based, so to wring the goods out of dodgy leaves etc, cook gently in a little oil and use that. Makes a nice one for the fat in cookies or cakes. There's a good book called Cannabis For Lunch by Eric, priced £6.99, ISBN 0-9529299-1-0, or see www.peacefull-day.freeserve.co.uk/erics/ For an alcoholic dope hit you need strong spirits to pull the usefulness out, so leave the leaves in vodka or similar for a few weeks. It goes bright green, too!
