http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/14/marijuana-production-carbon-footprint-environment_n_848865.html I've always been troubled by this side-effect of hidden production (tho I'd rather see it come from some local basement than smuggled in by a gang). It's dumb to have to use expensive artificial sunlight to grow a plant that thrives outdoors under the real thing. |

Not only that but I've heard of busts brought about by the unusually high electricity usage.

Are you troubled by this side effect? http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-01-05/china-rare-earths-leave-toxic-trail-to-toyota-prius-vestas-wind-turbines.html It's far more damaging in the long term than stopping plant-food gas. In fact the build of any hybrid causes more emissions than the build and running of a Ferrari, given their low-mileage use. >shrug

Oh well, you win. From this point on I'm seriously takin' names with all you treehuggers. Jshell has shown me the light, and it is a blue-hot petroleum flame that will cut down your hippy windfarms and burn out your solar cells! I'm buyin' me an Escalade tomorrow and go drive to NYC and back just for the hell of it. Damn, this feels good.

Seriously tho... nothing good ever came of not trying something, even if trying ends up being a lesson in how not to do it. I do grasp the unintended dilemma of toxic battery proliferation. But I also grasp large oil spills and conflicts fueled by petro-sheckles.
