There has always been a small Sikh community here, many of the women dressing in the tradition, which left lots of us in awe as young girls, seeing as the clothing was vibrant, glittering, but in a way that seemed to 'accent' beauty, with no 'face covering' at all.
The whole severity of the block black and just eyes as reminders there's a human in there does leave me uneasy, and it's eff all to do with 'race'.
I would hope that no woman would wear that (the whole face covering) out of 'choice', given the horrible treatment meted out in some parts of the world. Just as a small matter of solidarity, perhaps.
