Is a petition site for preventing further sales of Coillte land. The location and subsequent existence of the Corrib Gas Project at least partially hinges on the sale of the once Coillte land at Bellinaboy. This apparently oversized space now has the part built refinery on plus a great deal of space to expand in ways that have been conjectured on.
I thought some of you might therefore be interested in trying to prevent anything similar happening in future. To attempt to do so please sign the petition.
So the idea isn't solely exclusive to the UK, Ireland is trying to sell off its forestry land too. Unfortunately most of this has already been replanted with fast growing trees instead of native ones.
I've been being told since the early 90s that what is planted is not doing the soil any favours.
At least if it is not further resold there might be some hope of replanting with native trees. Unlikely if it gets built on or whatever.
