Thank you so much for your continued commitment to opposing the coalition’s plans to dispose of Forestry Commission owned land. As well as backing the motion calling on the government to reconsider its plans – which as you may know sadly did not attract enough support to be carried - I will also be voting against the Public Bodies Bill when it comes before MPs in the next few weeks. It is this legislation that will give government the powers it needs to go ahead with the sell-off. Massive public opposition to the proposals seems to have caught the coalition unawares and publicly they appear to have been making concessions. However, none of these changes have yet made it into the Bill and it is vital to keep up the pressure on things like guaranteed access for all to our forests.
