It's a possibility, but far from a certainty. Modern Egyptian society is quite different to Iran in the 70s. And I have to say that I have a real problem with people who talk about the Middle East as though it were one big country with a single homogeneous culture. Indeed, arguably neither Iran nor Egypt are even in the Middle East (one being a Central Asian Farsi culture, while the other is a North African Arabic culture) though obviously they all get lumped together.
But I suppose when we live in a world where so many people get their information from Fox News and their ilk, it's hardly a surprise. Spot the error:

EDIT: Incidentally, I wrote a piece on this very issue over at my place. In it I express my concern at the notion of an Islamist group filling the power vacuum should Mubarak leave, but I do point out that it's less likely to happen there than in other places in the region...
