Yes Summer!

When eating is part of culture and spirituality, it takes on a new dimension. My understanding is that the majority of Native Americans were for the main part vegetarian, and used meat to supplement their diet. The question of wether Western vegetarians have a part in the ethics of another culture is illustrated well by the 'problem' with the Makah tribe, who's cultural tradition centred around killing and eating whales. The whale is revered in 'environmental' circles, and 'not hunting whales' has recently stood as a benchmark for spiritual/ethical progress. The Makah plan to begin whaling again, following the population increase in Grey Whales.

A poignant issue, which will cause problems and debates aplenty.
