I hope so too, but I somehow doubt it.

The raft of anti-union legislation from Thatcher, Major and New Labour has made it very hard. Many workplaces are de-unionised, many contrats are short term and insecure, and most effective co-ordinated action is illegal.

As jobs are ever more scarce, and the benefits system ever more punitive, not many will throw themselves out of work for a principle.
