This is an attack on bleach being used as a cure for Crohns disease not Homeopathy. The remarkable 15 year old Rhys Morgan began by merely drawing attention to a FDA notice about MMS (Miracle Mineral Solution) to Crohns Forum which would contavene in the UK the 1939 Cancer Act. He spends 19 minutes on his videotweet explaining the grief he experienced when he challenges the belief system by some Crohns disease sufferers. It has been picked up by no less than Ben Goldacre.

All I will say is this. Alternative/Complimentary medicine can work. Personal experience talking on my part, and far more serious examples the same with friends/loved ones. My Mother is still here with me because of the gift of modern Medical Scientific Genius and complimentary/alternative, so please don't assume that these things are always the case, because they are not.

Beggars belief.

Selling bleach as a cure for Crohn's disease smacks of profiteering from the vulnerable at best and being a serial-poisoner at worst. But like Suitcase of Courage says, there's really nothing relevant to homeopathy about it.

And just to be clear, I think homeopathy is a load of bunkum, but one thing it won't do is poison you.

Off topic, but tangentially relevant, it concerns me a little when people start talking about "homeopathy" and then shift to talking about "alternative medicine" in general, as though the two were interchangeable. Much of what falls under the umbrella of "alternative medicine"; such as homeopathy or crystal healing is -- at the very least -- of questionable efficacy. But much of it; such as traditional herbal remedies or acupuncture, has some merit.

I know there are people here who, in the past, have sworn to the success of homeopathy. And I don't want to re-open that specific debate. But whether or not you are a believer or not; I think we can all agree that lumping crystal healing, homeopathy, herbalism and diluted industrial bleach under one heading and assuming you can talk sensibly about them as though they were one thing is unhelpful.

Yes it is wrong. I should have given that thread a different name.
I don't want that to detract from that lads story.

This story also illustrates how the Internet is developing as a means of communicating thoughts idea's and in this case belief systems, and how uppity peoples are. I'm sure similar instances have occurred here, but I am very impressed by the kid's point by point analysis. He would make a very good citizen of the planet Vulcan.
