http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-10990921 Top doc calls for drugs law review. The government says "we'll carry on with this stupid prohibition even though everyone says it doesn't work". Or words to that effect.

The government says "we'll carry on with this stupid prohibition even though everyone says it doesn't work". Or words to that effect. It's mind-boggling, isn't it? You have Sir Ian Gilmore, president of the Royal College of Physicians (so arguably the most qualified doctor in Britain). You have Nicholas Green QC, chairman of the UK Bar Council (one of the most qualified legal minds in Britain). You have Professor David Nutt (one of the most qualified neuroscientists in Britain). And all of them are saying that drug prohibition causes far more harm than it prevents. More than that, Gilmore insists that "Everyone who has looked at this in a serious and sustained way concludes that the present policy of prohibition is not a success." And yet we have a bunch of career politicians; uneducated fools or educated charlatans the lot of them; ignoring this advice in favour of taking their orders from the Daily fricking Mail. Which wouldn't be a problem if prohibition wasn't causing so much damage. It utterly sickens me. And is yet another reason why I have lost all faith in the modern political process.

More than that. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11033139 If you use drugs or alcohol, we will attempt to starve you into submission. I wonder if this would lead to an increase in muggings and shoplifting and burglary?

The Daily Mash isn't quite as consistent as The Onion, but when they're on form, they can be wonderful... Legalise Drugs, says some crazy president of the Royal College of Physicians The opening line alone is worth the click. Genius. EDIT: Oh, and this one is pretty good too.
