Incredible, isn't it?

I've actually heard people who rail against 'welfare sponges' cast admiration towards guys like Bernie Madoff. Perhaps the people at the bottom would get more respect if they were more ambitious in their greed? That's the impression.

And even more incredibly, I've seen the above attitude expressed in some 'Christian' circles, flying 180 degrees from their own savior's opinions regarding how the poor should be treated, and the rich's prospects for redemption. But it's obvious that the militant, capitalist version of Xtianity would have to ignore the compassionate element of that faith in order to justify the glorification of affluence.
