The Mail have no problem with justifying torture when it suits them. So this article is as much about the hypocricy of the media as it is to do with Sting.

Yep, just last week they ran a poll saying 'is it justified to torture terror suspects?'. Then there's always rentagob Littlejohn

But still, Sting can fuck off.

We've long known that, mind. Captain Save The Earth not only giving his music to Jaguar ads but actually appearing in them.

And as for his missus...

Aye, but that's what rich people do. They salve their consciences with good works, even as they do destructive things to make money. Think Diana and landmines for example. Part of an Establishment that maintains its position and wealth through threat of force and selling arms...

But what's the alternative? That Sting doesn't add his support to Amnesty?

See, that's the unwritten subtext of articles like this: - anyone that does anything is a hypocrite. Pretty much what Robin Fishwick said on U-Know a few years back

So the Mail seeks to discredit activism in general by pointing out the hypocricy of some individuals.

Interesting to see that they namechecked Craig Murray. He's someone that the Left has held up as an example of the nastiness of New Labour. Presumably the Mail are using him for the same reason.

Edit: Watching the Footy on ther telly put this in my mind.

Gary Lineker. Spent years as a top flight footballer. Went on to have a successful career in the Media. The guy must have a few quid in the bank. But he's also the public face of a junk food manufacturer. Yet nobody is posting anti-Lineker posts on U-know. He's not known for having a political or moral stance on anything, so he avoids charges of hypocricy.

Did you know that John Constantine Hellblazer was initially designed to look like Sting? Don't think he's the only one of the pair to have devil's blood running throuh his veins on this score.
Hypocrisy?
