Trump and Aberdeenshire
Feb 18, 2010, 03:49
As I'm sure some of you lot have noticed that I'm involved with the Tripping Up Trump movement next door on TMA. We don't need his greed, his total disregard for local environs, and his complete lack of respect for Aberdeenshire and it's people of which I'm proud to say I'm one. We need help and signatures so if you can please sign the petition.

Signed Drewbhoy.

Repulsive man and everyone involved in getting this bulldozed through should be (but won't be) ashamed.

I must admit I do get jealous as feck of people with such wonderful homes and all that, but maybe perhaps some of these folks have worked their arses off for it.
Salmond if he gets the chance, won't care. Aberdeenshire council will have zilch say in any of this.
I'm not too clued up on the politics, but didn't they reject an initial proposal? Just for that Shrek lookalike (though Shrek's nice) to totally ride roughshod over them?

If there isn't bribes and backhanders involved in this I'll eat Trump's wig.

I'll try to give a brief summary of Mr Trumps dubious standards. During the original meeting to decide if the go-ahead would be given the Formatine council voted equally for and against. Martin Ford, the then council leader, as is normal in equal votes kept the status quo and voted against. Now this caused uproar from Trump, and Alex Salmond (to my shame) became invoved. Mr Ford was removed from his position, and under severe pressure the some of the councillors caved in.

More recently it was decided that a small car park bought for £38 early in the century would be sold. It's purpose was to allow parking so people could gain access to the dunes and beach. At first it was decided that the ground was worth £1000 so some campaigners put the money up. But no trump offered £10,000 so the council gave him preferred buyer status. Another cave in.

He also uses the local children from the Balmedie primary school. He had them planting marram grass on the dunes, wonderful photo opportunities or using children as a publicity stunt? He also sponsers the schools football team.

There was a plan submitted that would have kept the dunes intact. This was ignored. Hardly any local workers will be used. Architects for the club house, golf village and holiday homes use no Scottish designers. So much for local input.

Or the Scottish relatives he has in the Isle of Lewis. That was brilliant! He was in the long lost relatives house for almost all of 90 seconds. Photo opportunities again to please other rich American pals! (in fact rich anywhere)

An offshore wind turbine plant for Balmedie bay was turned down as Trump said it would destroy the scene at Menie. Destroy the scene, rich ain't it when you consider what he is going to do.

There is much more blackening local farmers names, trying to buy elderly people out of their homes, complete disregard for the local infrastructure and so the list goes on, on, on, and on.

Trump should know that in the movies, the American trying to buy a piece of Scotland always gets his comeuppance.
