I'm not proposing anything really, just thought there was a bit of a flaw in logic there. But your clarification put it a bit more in perspective.
I agree the honest police should be supported, and the dishonest should be dealt with. The problem is, as I see it, the "best" of honest and law abiding police is often ruined by morons who believe their uniform gives them the right to trample on citizens basic rights.
And I can't understand how a corrupt police force would be better than nothing. In that case ordinary citizens would have to defend themselves both against criminals and corrupt police.
Btw: I had a burglary at my home once. Lots of stuff, including my little vinyl collection was stolen. All the police (Norwegian) did was give me a piece of paper I could send to the insurance company. When I asked them what they were going to do to get my stuff back they answered; "What do you expect us to do? Do you think we're clairvoyant?"
Maybe I should have called an activist instead. ;o)
