I had a very wise lecturer in my atmospheric physics course at Imperial College, who went to great lengths to point out how little we really understood about it beyond some broad general principles. He did however spend an entire lecture on how the then current hot topic, depletion of the ozone layer due to jet aircraft, can secure good research funding.

Hmm, the media 'waking up to climate change fraud' (I presume you mean doubting human-caused cliamte change) is evidenced by the Guardian by saying: "The revelations on the inadequacies of the 1990 paper do not undermine the case that humans are causing climate change, and other studies have produced similar findings." Am I missing something there? DarkMagus wrote: My fundamental arguement has always been that science cannot predict climate. Thanks to study of the earth tilting on its axis and the sun's output of energy, I'll do a climate prediction for you. I reckon July will be warmer than February. I don't know if it'll be raining in your street at 10.30 on July 12th, but that's not a climate prediction, it's a long range weather forecast. Do you think greenhouse gases affect temperature? If so, what do you think happens when you increase the amount of greenhouse gases?

I think you're missing all the lines about missing data & failing to own up. I predict the MSM will soon stop tacking on caveats at end of articles (proably a more reliable prediction than anything the IPCC has produced): it's getting safer by the day for people to express their real opinions without being attacked. Wow! Summer is warmer than winter! Bravo, excellent prediction! Must note that down for future reference. That's the best one yet. You really don't understand the complexity of the "science" do you? Still waiting for you to debunk the study I linked to elsewhere stating that NASA dumped inconvenient (i.e. cooling) weather stations whilst retaining nicely warming urban ones. Come on, tell us where the analysis is wrong. No need to mention trivial greenhouse gases like CO2 or the major one WATER VAOUR! Hey, let's introduce water vapour credits, that'll work!!

You really don't understand the complexity of the "science" do you? You've completely missed Merrick's point there. Yes, summer is warmer than Winter, and that can be predicted. No chaos theory involved. The same for climate change predictions. I'm afraid I think it is you who is misunderstanding the science here actually.

Squid, there is just no point with this person. At best they are trolling, at worst.......well I'll let you make your own mind up. I stand by my pictoral comments on this thread ;-)

One of the more unusual arguments against global warming though. "Chaos theory means we humans can neither affect nor predict anything as complex as climate." What does make it funny is that this idea is clung to, even when it can be simply demonstrated that chaotic systems form patterns. Spiral galaxies anyone?
