He's already on it.

Ultimately, tho, I'm not talking about how he responds to a humanitarian crisis. This will sound 'wrong', but that's an easy one. The US, and the rest of the world, will send in the supplies and people without reservation. Even under most Republican administrations, the foreign assistance flows in time of need.

What is infinitely more difficult is saving the American people FROM THEMSELVES.

I do have my strong suspicion that McCain chose Palin with the intention of losing the election, so that Obama could be the fall guy for all the shit that's hitting the fan.

You may well be right.

Perhaps that's why Gordon Brown has chosen not to resign as leader of the Labour Party too. I can only hope so.

Hi Dave, you know exactly what I mean. The power to give is a great gift, the power to listen is an even greater gift, the power to do both is the greatest gift. What he can do is beyond my powers of imagination but if he can help his own country and sort some of America's problems superb, but at the same time help a less fortunate country without looking to further his own thinking/ideals then surely he stands a chance? Once upon a time I thought maybe just maybe......then I woke up to find I was safe and secure. For a lot of people, not just in Haiti, this will not be the case. So my message to Obama is listen to the little people, the homeless, the destitute, those in world with nothing/no hope then look at his own multi national background and remember his forebears. It's a small world, what happens there/anywhere might impact on us all.
